Chocolate covered oreo cookie cake

May 28th, 2009 · kitchen

Oreo covered chocolate cake In celebration of summer, hanging out, and Office season four marathon, I made this cake!

This was probably the first cake I’ve made with some sort of filling or layers in it, and I’m really proud of the way it turned out. My mother loves it a lot.

General verdict: pretty easy to make, really delicious, would make again.

Sherlock Holmes booklet

May 24th, 2009 · design

The last project from my graphic design class was a free-for-all booklet about your subject of choice. I had just recently finished reading the Sherlock Holmes anthologies so I thought to do my booklet on him. Instead of going through Sherlock Holmes’ entire life I ended up working on just one of his cases, The Blue Carbuncle.
It was about a 3-week project including the pre-production outlining and scheduling, though our classes met twice a week. I originally was going to make a poster, but after I finished it I realized it didn’t work with the project, so it ended up as my cover, and reused the vector art I made, like the hand and silhouetted geese.

Overall I’d say it’s my greatest accomplishment of the semester. :)

Made with indesign, photoshop and illustrator.

Chocolate-dipped sugar cookies

chocolate-dipped sugar cookies in the shape of a pig

For my friend’s birthday, I made her these cookies in the shape of pigs.

I shaped each of the pigs with a knife, so each pig looks a little different. If you look closely you can tell which ones my earlier attempts are–they look more like mice.

There was a bit of red food coloring overdose, so the pink pigs are a little redder than they should be, but otherwise I am really proud of these. :)

They are dipped in chocolate for mud.
